$25,000 Winterfest Ice Fishing Derby

Derby Status

The derby is on! The southwest area of the lake will be the only area utilized for the derby. Other areas will be restricted. Check the map below for areas that will be allowed for fishing during the derby.

Please note: this map is a guide. Actual areas will be marked the day of the derby with orange traffic cones. Individuals outside the restricted areas will be disqualified from the derby.

Win an Ice House

Pre-registrants will be eligible to win an ice house each week during January. Each Thursday Crash Davis will announce the winner at 5:45 p.m. during his Outdoor Update on 1110 KFAB.

PRIZES will be given away for the following:

  • Big Fish prizes awarded for: the largest bluegill, catfish, crappie, drum, walleye, and wiper.

  • 3 places awarded in each age category: Adult division and youth division (to age 15).

Biggest fish in each category (determined by the length of fish) sponsored by Hy-Vee.

All fish to be measured must be taken to the registration tent. Designated officials will measure and examine the fish for freshness. Any fish that appears not to be fresh will be disqualified.

During extreme cold conditions, find a Derby Official quickly to verify that your fish is alive.

More Prizes:

  • Mo Fish will award $25 gift certificates to the first 4 catfish brought to the registration tent.

  • Bass Pro will award a Pond Prowler for a door prize.

  • Prizes will also be awarded for the Best Decorated Ice House and the Doll's Distributing Chili Cook-off. Contestants must be entered in the Fishing Derby. Contestants must enter the contest by 9 a.m. at the registration tent. Contestants must be registered by 9 a.m. and assigned times will be given for the chili tasting. All contestants will be asked to sample their chili before the judges start sampling. The Chili Contest will begin @ 11 a.m.

  • Other door prizes include hand augers, Bass Pro tackle boxes, rods and reels and much more.
